HEAT PROTECTORS

Heat damage to the hair shaft is irreparable.  It is especially important that the hair shaft be protected with a heat protector prior to the use of hair dryers, blow dryers, flat irons, and any type of heat application to the hair shaft.

Heat protectors come in different forms, from liquids to creams to sprays.  The purpose of a heat protector is to put a protective layer, over the cuticle, so that when heat is applied it does not create any damage to the hair shaft.

On naturally curly hair, heat damage, permanently straightens the hair shaft.  The heat enters the hair shaft and stretches the bonds which are curly or coiled and makes them unable to curl or coil again.
